  16. 1.  The purpose of the IGA_Net<tm> ANAG Conference is to provide an 
  17. international forum for the research of African-North American lines.
  18.  
  19. 2.  Messages in this echo must conform with the current rules in place
  20. for IGA_Net<tm>.  Please note that any message which is lawful,
  21. friendly, and related to genealogy is not likely to fall afoul of any
  22. IGA_Net<tm> rule.

  24. 3.  Personal attacks or "flames" are prohibited as is offensive language.
  25.  
  26. 4.  Please leave the moderating to the moderator.
  27.  
  28. 5.  General announcements regarding genealogical books, software, or
  29. related products are permitted, providing they are brief, one-time, and
  30. the person making the announcement will not profit monetarily.
  31. Discussion, comparison, and reviews of such products are encouraged.

  33. 6.  Since names are the heart and soul of genealogy, aliases are
  34. extremely discouraged.  If, due to BBS software limitations, an alias
  35. is used in the message header, the real name MUST be signed in the body
  36. of the message.

  38. 7.  Illegal information or activities are not permitted.
  39.  
  40. 8.  The use of taglines is strongly dissuaded. In the event the
  41. originator of a message finds he/she has an urgent need to utilize a
  42. tagline, the tagline will only be a short line detailing research
  43. surnames:

  45.             Researching: JONES, GREEN, and CALLAWAY
  46.  
  47. Cutesy taglines add nothing to the value of genealogical research
  48. being conducted by the message originator.... in fact, they detract
  49. greatly from the serious purpose of the message content.
  50.  
  51. Also, taglines add to the length of messages and therefore add to the
  52. cost of transferring traffic via continental and intercontinental
  53. telephone. Again, you are requested to empathize with those who are
  54. paying the long-distance charges and leave taglines off your messages.

  56. 9.  This conference may not be gated to any other network without the
  57. express consent of the IGA_Net<tm> Zone Coordinator, 440:1/0.

  59. 10. Messages should be in English if possible, but there are no general
  60. language restrictions.

  62. 11. Remember it costs money for most people to receive this echo.
  63. Please keep message quoting to a minimum by quoting only when necessary
  64. and then only quoting the relevant parts.
